This past weekend saw the American Le Mans Series roll into town, well more specifically rolled into Mosport. The day started as most races do, with the morning photographers meeting which nobody is a fan of seeing how they start 7:30 in the morning. Basically the day starts by getting up, getting my gear ready, and rushing out the door some times eating breakfast on the way during the 45 minute drive out to Mosport.
Race weekend was hot, very hot with temperatures hovering around 38 degrees Celsius for most of the day on Saturday.
The ALMS series is one of my favorite series to shoot with the diverse field of cars especially in the GT category. The LMP category is in a state of transition with only 3 cars competing in LMP1, two of which are owned by the same team Dyson Racing. LMP2 is even worst shape with no cars competing in the class since Long beach where Scott Tucker’s Level 5 Motorsports parked there two entries half way through the race and haven’t been since in the ALMS since. The ALSM needs to fix this and they need to fix this now, the fans come out to see the exotic LMP sports cars and with such a week field that’s got to be hurting attendance.
There are rumors around the various paddocks that there maybe some new manufactures in the pipeline that could debut as early as Laguna Seca but more likely will happen in 2012.
In the meantime checkout some ALMS Images from Mosport.
